BP Highway reopens after 16-hour closure due to flooding

KATHMANDU: BP Highway has reopened after being blocked for 16 hours due to flooding at Mamti, located in Ward 11 of Roshi Rural Municipality.

The flood had swept away a diversion, halting all vehicular movement along the highway.

According to Sunil Dhanju, Chief of the District Traffic Police Office in Kavre, small vehicles including motorcycles have already resumed operation through a newly constructed diversion.

Larger vehicles are also being allowed to pass gradually.

The road was blocked since 9 PM on Monday night when the flood washed away the diversion.

During the closure, vehicles heading east from Kathmandu were held at Bhakunde, while those traveling west toward Kathmandu were stopped in Sindhuli.
