KATHMANDU: At least 11 Pakistani military personnel, including five from the Air Force and one squadron leader, were killed during a recent Indian offensive, according to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The casualties reportedly occurred on May 10, with 78 additional soldiers injured, as reported by Pakistani media outlet Dawn.
The ISPR also stated that earlier Indian strikes on May 6 and 7 resulted in the deaths of 40 civilians, including seven women and 15 children. An additional 121 civilians were wounded in those attacks.
After four days of intense cross-border conflict, both India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire this past Saturday.
On the Indian side, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) confirmed that eight Indian security personnel were killed during the hostilities.
Tensions escalated after a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which killed 26 tourists, including one Nepali national. In response, India launched “Operation Sindoor,” targeting what it claimed were terrorist camps inside Pakistani territory.
