Filming wraps up for ‘Janai Harayeako Bahun: Sambandhaka Dhagaharu’
Directed by debutant filmmaker Himal Neupane, the film was shot across various locations in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Kavre.

KATHMANDU: The filming of the much-anticipated Nepali feature film ‘Janai Harayeako Bahun: Sambandhaka Dhagaharu’ has officially concluded.
The production team marked the completion with a grand “Indie-clap” party on Monday at a party palace in Chyasal, Lalitpur, announcing that the film was successfully shot in just 35 days.
Directed by debutant filmmaker Himal Neupane, the film was shot across various locations in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Kavre.
Speaking at the event, Neupane expressed satisfaction with the filming process. “We were able to shoot as planned and the results have been promising,” he said. “We are now fully focused on post-production and committed to delivering a quality film to the audience.”
‘Janai Haraeko Bahun: Sambandhaka Dhagaharu’ tells a heartfelt story of a simple man from a village who encounters unexpected challenges after moving to the city.
The film delves into how these events transform his life, centering on an emotional narrative between a mother and her son.
The associate director of the film is Prem Geet 3 actor Manish Raut. The film boasts a strong ensemble cast, including actors Bijay Baral, Keki Adhikari, Miruna Magar, Gaurav Pahari, and Sushank Mainali.
Supporting roles feature Bhola Raj Sapkota, Rear Rai, Bhawana Khapangi Magar, Rupesh Lama, and Suman Thapa.
Speaking at the wrap party, actor Vijay Baral shared his experience: “I had the opportunity to work with Keki and Miruna, and many other ‘fierce talents’. I’m just an ordinary person, so I played an ordinary character. But this film isn’t just about a father-son relationship — it’s about many complex and emotional bonds that I believe will deeply resonate with the audience.”
Associate director Raut echoed this sentiment, describing the film as a reflection of lived experiences and human relationships — woven together like sacred threads of a janai (sacred thread).
Produced under the banner of Paperclip Production, the film is backed by producers Kamal Neupane and Bimal Neupane.
Co-producers include R.K. Manandhar, Rupesh Lama, C.R. Basnet, and Philip D.C.
The story, screenplay, and dialogue have been penned by Bhanubhakta Dhakal. Dinesh Bahadur Raut served as the chief assistant director, with Tarkaraj Neupane, Rabindra Nepal, Monika Thapa, and Akash K.C. working as assistant directors.
The music in the film features contributions from Prashant Siwakoti, SD Yogi, Thaneshwar Gautam, and Arjun Pokharel.
Cinematography is by Krishan Pariyar, with Navin Gurung as the Director of Photography (DOP).
While the production team is targeting a release around the Teej festival in the Nepali month of Bhadra (August/September), the official release date is yet to be announced.
