13 dead in central India road accident

NEW DELHI: At least 13 people, including nine women and an infant, died and 14 others were injured when their vehicle collided with a truck in India’s central state of Chhattisgarh late Sunday, confirmed the local police.
The accident occurred at around 11 p.m. near the state’s capital city of Raipur.
The victims were returning home after attending a function at one of their relatives’ house.
Those injured were admitted to a local hospital. Two among the injured people were said to be in a critical condition.
The state’s former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel told the media that in recent years, there had been a rise in the number of road accidents in Chhattisgarh, urging the state government to take steps to check such accidents and save human lives.
