Minister Khadka pledges restoration of flood-hit Melamchi, Helambu

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has said the government will switch to action to reclaim flood-ravaged areas in Melamchi and Healambu areas in Sindhupalchowk.

During his inspection to the areas today, he announced special plans for the management of irrigation facilities there. He also called for collective efforts to restore the areas.

As he said, a detailed project report will be prepared for ensuring the irrigation facility at Bhimtar of Indrawati rural municipality by fetching water from the Indrawati River.

The devastating flood on June 15, 2021 (Asar 1, 2078 BS) caused a huge losses of lives and property in the Melamchi and Helambu areas.

The ministerial-level delegation visited the areas and the locals handed a memorandum to the Minister, demanding the restoration of the affected sites.
