KATHMANDU: The price of gold in the Nepali market witnessed a significant drop today, with the rate of fine gold (hallmark gold) falling by Rs 3,700 per tola.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, hallmark gold is currently being traded at Rs 186,800 per tola.

This marks a notable decrease from Sunday’s price of Rs 190,500 per tola, which had already seen a slight decline of Rs 300.

Compared to previous fluctuations, today’s drop is particularly steep.

Silver prices also edged down today, though the decrease was more modest.

The price of silver slipped by Rs 10 per tola, falling from Rs 1,970 on Sunday to Rs 1,960 today.

Analysts attribute the decline in precious metal prices to fluctuations in the international market and a strengthening of the Nepali rupee against the US dollar.
