Fake cops rob two men in Kalanki hotel, 8 arrested
Acting on a detailed complaint, police have arrested eight individuals—including two women—on charges of robbery, intimidation, and fraud.

KATHMANDU: In an incident in the Kalanki area of the capital, two young men were lured into a hotel room and robbed by a group posing as police officers.
Acting on a detailed complaint, police have arrested eight individuals—including two women—on charges of robbery, intimidation, and fraud.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, the incident took place at Hotel Men’s, room number 402.
The two victims were allegedly tricked into coming to the hotel by women involved in the plot.
Soon after, six men entered the room claiming to be police officers and threatened the victims with fabricated legal charges and death if they resisted or raised their voices.
The fake officers demanded Rs 363,000 from the victims, who, out of fear, handed over all the cash they had and were coerced into withdrawing additional funds from their bank accounts.
After discovering that the individuals were impersonating police officers, the victims filed a complaint at the Valley Crime Investigation Office.
Based on the complaint, a team led by DSP Roshan Khadka launched an investigation and apprehended the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Sandeep Pariyar of Devchuli, Nawalparasi
Sandeep BK (25), and Atit Kshetri (25) of Bharatpur, Chitwan
Badal Tamang (22)
Anish KC of Gaindakot
Bibek Malla Thakuri of Chitwan
Sakriya Khaniya of Lamjung
Kavita Rai of Sunsari, currently residing in Kapan
Police recovered Rs 52,000 in cash, nine mobile phones of various brands, and a motorcycle from the suspects.
According to police spokesperson SP Kaji Kumar Acharya, the arrested individuals have been handed over to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal proceedings.
