KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by double digits on the first trading day of the week.

Today, the NEPSE index dropped by 11.53 points, settling at 2,650.11 points.

According to NEPSE, a total of 24,011,014 shares of 300 companies were traded in 88,955 transactions, amounting to a total turnover of Rs 10.20 billion.

Among the sector indices, Development Banks rose by 1.27%, Hotels and Tourism by 6.50%, Life Insurance by 0.31%, Non-Life Insurance by 0.06%, and the Trading sector increased by 0.20%.

All other sector indices, however, recorded losses.

The Banking sector declined by 0.51%, Finance by 3.72%, Hydropower by 1.26%, Investment by 1.55%, Manufacturing and Processing by 0.39%, Microfinance by 0.09%, and Mutual Funds by 0.28%.

Nepal Microinsurance Company Limited and Crest Micro Life Insurance Limited hit the positive circuit limit today, signaling a maximum daily gain.

Sindhu Development Bank Limited experienced the highest drop in share price, falling by 7.45%.

In terms of transaction value, Radhi Bidyut Company Limited led the market with trades worth Rs 660.7 million.

Ngadi Group Power Limited recorded the highest volume of traded shares, with 1,561,871 shares changing hands today.
