PM Oli asserts monarchy will not be reinstated, warns against regressive rhetoric
The Prime Minister emphasized that the country will be governed strictly in accordance with the constitution and the law, and that all stakeholders must be willing to abide by them.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has firmly stated that the monarchy will not be reinstated in Nepal, dismissing any hopes or calls for a return to the previous system as unrealistic and regressive.
Addressing the House of Representatives on Sunday while responding to queries raised by lawmakers regarding the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year, PM Oli strongly warned against any efforts to undermine democracy.
“In the name of democracy, openly advocating for the reversal of democratic gains and pushing the country toward regression is both surprising and alarming,” Oli said. “Don’t dream of restoring the monarchy on any future Jestha 15. That dream will never be realized. Dreams alone are of no use — I urge you not to insist on them.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that the country will be governed strictly in accordance with the constitution and the law, and that all stakeholders must be willing to abide by them.
He added, “There is no meaning in loudly advocating regression and leaping to the point of hitting your head. It would have been better if those dreaming of protests understood the principles of peaceful movement.”
Oli’s remarks come amidst increased rhetoric from some political factions calling for the revival of the monarchy, particularly around symbolic dates such as Jestha 15, which marks the abolition of the monarchy in 2008.
