Five injured in collision between bus & Hiace in Dhankuta

KATHMANDU: At least five passengers were injured in a road accident involving a passenger bus and an electric microbus (Hiace) in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-1, Labarbote, on Sunday morning.

According to police, the collision occurred at around 11:15 AM when a Hiace van (Province 1–02–001 Ja 4276), en route from Dhankuta to Dharan, collided with a bus (Province 1–02–002 Kha 0373) coming from the opposite direction.

The injured have been identified as Januka Devi Khatriwada of Samdhuni-3 in Sunsari, Amir Rai, Harka Bahadur Rai, and Sophia Rai of Bhojpur Municipality-10, and the Hiace driver, Bipin Nepal, a resident of Bhojpur-8.

All injured individuals were immediately taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for treatment.

District Police Spokesperson DSP Om Prakash Khanal stated that the bus driver, Kul Bahadur Magar of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-17 in Sunsari, has been taken into custody for investigation.

All other passengers on board the bus were reported to be safe.
