KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Prabhu Sah has strongly criticized the government’s annual policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year, labeling it as one that supports corruption and promotes a culture of looting.

Speaking during Sunday’s session of the House of Representatives, MP Sah likened the policy document to offering sweets to a diabetic patient, implying that it is deeply flawed and unsuitable for the country’s pressing needs.

He alleged that the hard-earned remittances sent by Nepali citizens working abroad are being misused for the benefit of corrupt individuals and syndicates. “Instead of bringing back the illicit wealth stashed abroad through corruption, the policy seems to legitimize and protect such practices,” Sah stated during the discussion.

The lawmaker further expressed concern that the proposed policy would pave the way for the misuse of income earned by migrant workers, rather than ensuring its productive investment in national development.

Sah called for a redirection of national policy to crack down on corruption, repatriate illegally accumulated assets, and safeguard the interests of the general public, especially the migrant workforce that significantly contributes to Nepal’s economy.
