Pariyar slams govt policy for ignoring public disillusionment
Pariyar said the policy document lacks direction and innovation, and does not inspire confidence in Nepal’s democratic system.

KATHMANDU: Santosh Pariyar, Chief Whip of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has sharply criticized the government’s newly presented policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year, claiming it fails to address the growing public disillusionment with politics in Nepal.
Speaking during Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Pariyar said the policy document lacks direction and innovation, and does not inspire confidence in Nepal’s democratic system.
“The 155-point policy and program fails to provide any clear roadmap to rekindle public faith in democracy or reduce the mounting frustration toward the political system,” Pariyar stated. He emphasized that while growing skepticism toward politicians might be understandable, rising disillusionment with politics as a whole poses a serious threat to the democratic system.
Pariyar stressed that the government’s policies must serve as a decisive instrument for implementing the Constitution and fulfilling the people’s fundamental rights.
He urged the government to utilize the upcoming budget as a powerful tool to deliver on these constitutional commitments.
Criticizing the absence of any groundbreaking or youth-oriented programs in the policy document, Pariyar asserted that it does not reflect the aspirations of the current generation. “This policy lacks innovation and fails to represent the voice of today’s youth,” he added.
The RSP has consistently advocated for reform-oriented governance and greater political accountability.
Pariyar’s remarks highlight a broader concern that unless political leaders respond to public frustrations with credible reforms, democratic stability could be undermined.
