Health Minister urges use of admin space for treatment expansion
Speaking at the event, he highlighted the ongoing challenge of acquiring land for expanding the hospital's infrastructure.

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, has stated that increasing human resources in the administrative sector of the health system is not feasible and emphasized the need to optimize available space for medical use.
Inaugurating the Pediatric Oncology Ward and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital on Sunday, Minister Paudel underscored the importance of converting administrative spaces into treatment areas, even if it requires downsizing administrative units.
Speaking at the event, he highlighted the ongoing challenge of acquiring land for expanding the hospital’s infrastructure.
However, he expressed optimism that if suitable land is secured, infrastructure development could commence within the current fiscal year under a multi-year project framework.
Minister Paudel also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to free treatment for cancer-affected children under the age of 14.
According to him, around 80 percent of the medicines required for such treatments are provided free of charge.
He also mentioned that medication for hemophilia is now available in hospitals and distributed without cost.
Calling for the optimal use of resources, Minister Paudel stressed the need to expand healthcare services to their maximum capacity in order to meet the growing demands of the public.
