KATHMANDU: The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the Federal Parliament has urged the government to finalize preparations and present the long-awaited Federal Civil Service Bill in the upcoming parliamentary session.

During a committee meeting held on Sunday at Singha Durbar, Committee President Ramhari Khatiwada directed the government to be ready to table the bill in the next committee meeting, following thorough discussions and consultations.

Khatiwada emphasized that the government should come to the meeting well-prepared to move the bill forward, taking into account both public opinion and the perspectives of committee members.

“If the government fails to clarify its position and move forward accordingly, the committee will proceed based on its own procedures,” he warned.

He further noted that delaying new legislation while continually extending the tenure of existing frameworks could lead to negative public perception and undermine trust in the legislative process.

President Khatiwada also called on the government to present a clear stance on the proposed amendments to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Bill and expedite its conclusion.
