KATHMANDU: The Human Rights and Peace Society organized a peaceful protest in front of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, condemning terrorism and calling for global peace and solidarity.
The demonstrators carried placards with powerful messages such as: “There is no alternative to peace,” “No one wins in war – only humanity is defeated,” and “Terrorism is always condemnable.” Some placards questioned the humanitarian implications of actions like suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and emphasized the need to protect democracy, stating, “India is the world’s largest democracy – let there be no conspiracy against Nepal’s democracy.”
The protest also highlighted the strong civil ties between India and Nepal, calling them a matter of pride.
Protesters questioned Pakistan’s contradictory stance, asking, “Why has a country suffering from extremism and terrorism embraced it?” and reiterated that “Extremism and terrorism are enemies of humanity.”
The Society emphasized that sustainable peace and mutual understanding among nations is essential in the fight against terror.
