KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to immediately initiate serious diplomatic efforts to ensure the safety of Nepali citizens currently residing in India and Pakistan amid escalating military tensions between the two countries.

Expressing his concern through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sharma highlighted the growing risks to the lives of thousands of Nepalis due to the worsening conflict in the region.

“Thousands of Nepali students are studying in India and Pakistan, and millions are engaged in labor and business activities. The current war-like situation poses a serious threat to their lives,” Sharma wrote.

He recalled the tragic death of Nepali youth Sudip Neupane in a terrorist attack in Kashmir, emphasizing that the state must not remain passive in such dire circumstances.

“The death of our youth Sudip Neupane in a terrorist attack in Kashmir is still fresh in our memory. Honorable Prime Minister, please take immediate and serious steps to protect the lives of Nepalis living there,” Sharma urged.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified in recent days, especially along the border regions.

International media reports indicate drone and missile exchanges took place between the two countries just last night.

In light of these developments, there is growing demand for the Nepali government to develop a clear and effective strategy to safeguard its citizens abroad.
