Driver killed as tipper plunges off road

KATHMANDU: A road accident near the Siddhababa Damside in Palpa has claimed the life of a tipper driver.

The incident occurred around 6:30 PM on Thursday evening when a tipper (registration number Lu 1 Kha 2517), en route to Butwal, went out of control after suffering a tire puncture.

The vehicle veered off the road and plunged approximately 65 meters down to the bank of the Tinau River.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Prabhakar Yadav of Siyari Rural Municipality–2, Rupandehi, was rescued from the site and rushed to Lumbini Provincial Hospital in Butwal.

However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
