KATHMANDU: The District Court of Kathmandu has extended the remand of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice-Chair Rabindra Mishra and controversial businessman Durga Prasai by five more days.

The bench of Judge Mona Singh granted the extension following a request from the police, who cited the need for further investigation.

Alongside Mishra and Prasai, the court has approved extended detention for 24 individuals in total.

This marks the seventh time their detention has been extended under charges related to crimes against the state.

The latest extension follows their prior remand on Baisakh 21 (May 3), as authorities continue to gather evidence.

Mishra and Prasai were arrested in connection with a violent protest that took place in Tinkune on Chaitra 15 (March 28).

They are accused of inciting unrest during the demonstration, which had royalist undertones.

Prasai, known as a leading figure in the pro-monarchy movement, faces multiple serious charges, including attempted murder, public violence, organized crime, and sedition. Mishra has been charged with sedition and organized crime.
