NEPSE index sees double-digit decline

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a double-digit loss today, falling by 12.04 points to close at 2,661.64.

Sector-wise, most indices closed in the red.
The banking sector declined by 0.82%, development banks by 1.56%, hotel and tourism by 0.14%, investment by 0.04%, microfinance by 0.13%, non-life insurance by 0.17%, trading by 2%, and others by 1.81%.
However, the finance sector posted the strongest performance, gaining 4.30%. Other sectors with modest gains included hydropower (0.03%), life insurance (0.01%), manufacturing and processing (0.17%), and mutual funds (0.07%).
Notably, Nepal Microinsurance Company Limited and Crest Micro Life Insurance Limited hit the positive circuit limit today, reflecting strong investor interest.
In terms of turnover, Ngadi Group Power Limited topped the chart with Rs 784.6 million in total trade value.
