KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Bhanu Bhakta Joshi has called for the immediate passage of the Dasharath Chand Health Science University Bill in the Federal Parliament.

Speaking during Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Joshi emphasized the urgency of endorsing the bill.

He stated that all necessary arrangements have already been made for the operation of a 1,000-bed hospital.

“There are already 53 small and large buildings constructed on 70 bighas of land, and all preparations have been completed for the operation of a 1,000-bed hospital, including accommodations for the executive and other staff. Therefore, this bill should be brought to Parliament and passed as soon as possible,” he said.

Joshi further demanded that the bill be prioritized on the parliamentary agenda for discussion and approval. It had previously been listed for deliberation during the last day of the winter session and again on Baisakh 15.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Panta, was scheduled to present the proposal for discussion on the bill, with plans to pass it on the same day.

However, the bill was removed from the agenda because Minister Panta was engaged in negotiations regarding the teachers’ protest.

The bill was originally registered in the National Assembly on 21 Ashoj 2080.

The National Assembly passed it in 2080 and sent it to the House of Representatives for further deliberation.
