PM Oli emphasizes national commitment to a healthy Nepal
Prime Minister Oli stressed that prevention is the most effective form of health security, emphasizing the importance of lifestyle choices, balanced nutrition, and the integration of Ayurvedic practices.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reaffirmed the government’s long-term commitment to creating a healthy nation, stating that Nepal is moving forward with a comprehensive vision for public health.
Speaking at the inauguration of an international conference on leprosy held in Kathmandu on Thursday, the Prime Minister highlighted “Healthy Nepal” as a national aspiration.
Prime Minister Oli stressed that prevention is the most effective form of health security, emphasizing the importance of lifestyle choices, balanced nutrition, and the integration of Ayurvedic practices.
“Preventing illness through balanced diet and healthy habits is more effective than curing diseases,” he said. “Food should not just fill the stomach; it should promote health.”
He further underlined that the solution to many diseases lies in nature itself and called for scientific research to validate and advance traditional healing methods. Expressing concern over the declining use of Ayurveda, he noted, “Although allopathic medicine is widely used today, Ayurvedic treatments have been practiced for centuries. We must revive and develop them through research.”
Addressing the leprosy conference, PM Oli urged early diagnosis and openness in dealing with the disease rather than hiding it. He called on all citizens to contribute to building strong immunity and creating a society where diseases are less likely to arise.
“We are committed to building a Healthy Nepal,” he said. “Our goal is a nation where no one suffers from preventable diseases.”
