Grand premiere of movie ‘Unko Sweater’ draws over a thousand guests (photos)

KATHMANDU: The much-anticipated Nepali film Unko Sweater ‘Woolen Sweater’ held its grand world premiere on Wednesday evening at Big Movies, Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, ahead of its global theatrical release this Friday.
The event witnessed a massive turnout of over a thousand guests, including artists, politicians, media personnel, and well-wishers, reflecting significant enthusiasm for the film.
Distinguished attendees included Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal Chairperson Rajendra Lingden, MPs Sobita Gautam and Binita Kathayat, Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Karki, and prominent actors Dayahang Rai, Keki Adhikari, and Anjana Baraili.
The film’s core cast—Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Pariksha Limbu, Alex Paras, and Wilson Bikram Rai—along with director Navin Chauhan, were also present.
Following the screening, the film received overwhelmingly positive reactions. Deputy Speaker Rana Magar praised the film’s heartfelt portrayal of love, saying, “The film beautifully shows that love is earned by winning hearts.” Actor Dayahang Rai called it “a remarkable creation,” applauding its overall execution. MP Sobita Gautam found the film’s visuals, social themes, and storyline captivating. Actress Keki Adhikari described Woolen Sweater as one of the finest love stories she has seen, offering special praise for director Chauhan’s work.
The film’s cast shared emotional reflections after the premiere. Bipin Karki expressed being deeply moved by the audience’s affection, while Miruna Magar said she felt fulfilled in being able to offer heartfelt warmth through the film.
Debutant Alex Paras shared his excitement at the warm reception, and Parikshya Limbu noted how deeply she connected with her character.
Music director and singer Sujan Chapagain extended his gratitude to all attendees, stating that the film is now in the hands of the audience.
Director Navin Chauhan remarked, “The responses have been heartwarming. These soulful reactions are hard to express in words.”
Advance ticket sales have already begun across cinemas in Nepal. According to distributor Govinda Shahi, Woolen Sweater has secured over 300 show slots nationwide—a remarkable figure for the film’s commercial prospects.
Songs from the film, including “Phool,” “Makhmali,” and “Kafle”—composed by Sujan Chapagain and Jhuma Limbu—have gained notable popularity on social media. The film’s trailer and teaser had already generated significant buzz ahead of its release.
Produced under the banner of Artmandu Pvt. Ltd., Woolen Sweater features a stellar cast including Sunil Pokharel, Mao Tse Gurung, Prem Subba, Suraj Tamang, Sharda Devi Silwal, and Bhawana Khapangi Magar, alongside the leads.
Shot in the picturesque regions of Panchthar and Phalelung, the film captures Nepal’s social diversity and a poignant love story.
The film has received a Universal Certificate from the Censor Board, making it suitable for all audiences.
