KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepal University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the interests of both parties with the main objective of connecting education and industry.

The signing ceremony was held on Wednesday at the CNI office.

Dr. Suryaraj Acharya, Registrar of Nepal University, and Dr. Ghanshyam Ojha, Director General of CNI, signed the MoU.

On the occasion, CNI President Mr. Rajesh Kumar Agrawal emphasized the growing need for skilled human resources in the country.

He noted that while educational qualifications are important, there is an urgent need to enhance practical and skill-based learning.

Mr. Agrawal expressed confidence that Nepal University, established under a new academic model, will significantly contribute to producing capable and industry-ready graduates.

He also affirmed CNI’s commitment to connecting university students with industrial sectors.

Dr. Bindu Lohani, Vice-Chancellor of Nepal University, highlighted the need for practical learning opportunities and stressed the importance of internships for students in industrial settings.

He reiterated the university’s mission to deliver skill-oriented education, aligning with the current demands of the job market.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arjun Karki stated that the university will design programs to instill skills, entrepreneurship, innovation, and strong moral values among students.

He said that collaboration and support from all stakeholders are essential for the success of the university’s innovative approach.

CNI Senior Vice Chair Mr. Birendra Raj Pandey mentioned that the partnership would focus on areas such as industry exposure, curriculum development, innovation, and research.

The event was attended by several board members of Nepal University, including Dr. Jagadish Chandra Pokhrel, Dr. Bimala Rai Poudyal, and Dr. Lal Krishna KC.
