KATHMANDU: In response to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan — considered the most serious in over two decades — the United Kingdom has expressed its willingness to assist both nations in reducing hostilities.

UK Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds stated in an interview with BBC Radio, “We are friends and partners of both India and Pakistan. We are ready to help both countries. Our message would be that we are willing to support any efforts that promote dialogue and help reduce tensions for the sake of regional stability.”

The situation has raised international concern due to the nuclear capabilities of both nations and the history of conflict between them, especially over the disputed Kashmir region.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has issued a travel advisory urging British nationals to avoid traveling within 8 kilometers of the India-Pakistan border and within 16 kilometers of the Line of Control (LoC).

Additionally, travel to the southwestern province of Balochistan is strongly discouraged.

“We are closely monitoring the situation,” a UK official added. “British citizens should stay up to date with our travel advisories and follow the guidance of local authorities.”
