KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a significant upswing today, with the benchmark index climbing by 62.25 points to settle at 2,673.69, marking a 2.38% gain—the highest in recent trading sessions.

Alongside the index rise, trading volume surged past Rs 10.5 billion, indicating a bullish sentiment across the market.

A total of 308 companies saw the trading of 27.2 million shares over 99,605 transactions, amounting to Rs 10.51 billion in turnover.

All sectoral indices closed in the green, with Finance (+5.47%) and Hydropower (+3.13%) leading the rally. Key sector performances include:

Banking: +2.97%

Development Banks: +2.40%

Insurance (Life): +2.44%

Non-Life Insurance: +2.67%

Microfinance: +2.24%

Hotels & Tourism: +1.59%

Manufacturing & Processing: +1.18%

Investment: +0.81%

Trading: +0.53%

Two insurance companies—Nepal Microinsurance Ltd. and Crest Micro Life Insurance Ltd.—hit the upper circuit limit, reflecting strong investor demand. Conversely, Nyadi Hydropower Ltd. posted the steepest loss of the day, dropping by 4.50%.

In terms of transaction value, Sanima Mai Hydropower Ltd. topped the list with shares worth Rs 592 million changing hands. Singati Hydro Energy Ltd. led by volume, with over 1.42 million shares traded.
