FDB provides aid to ailing & deceased film workers’ families

KATHMANDU: The Film Workers’ Welfare Fund under the Film Development Board of Nepal has provided financial assistance to support three ailing film workers and the family of one deceased technician, according to Board Chair Dinesh D.C.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman D.C. emphasized that the board remains committed to standing by individuals in the film industry during times of hardship. “We have been extending support to those in need, as this is not just our responsibility but also our duty. The fund was established precisely for moments like these—to support those who have contributed to the growth of our film industry,” he said.
As per the board, Rs 100,000 was handed over to the family of director Santosh Dhakal, who is undergoing treatment for a brain hemorrhage at Green City Hospital.
The family of late technician Shreekrishna Timalsina received Rs 50,000 to assist with funeral expenses.
Actor Gokul Subedi, currently recovering from a leg fracture, was provided Rs 40,000, while technician Umesh Shrestha, battling liver cirrhosis, also received Rs 100,000 in support.
A delegation comprising Chair Dinesh D.C., Welfare Fund Chairperson Basundhara Bhusal, and board members Mohan Niraula and Pushkar Lama personally visited the residences, hospital, and mourning home to hand over the financial aid.
