RSP lawmaker criticizes govt. policy program as outdated & ineffective
According to him, the policy fails to reflect the mindset and aspirations of today’s youth and merely continues the status quo.

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has sharply criticized the government’s newly unveiled policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year, calling it incapable of addressing the country’s pressing problems.
Speaking during Wednesday’s session of the House of Representatives, Shrestha argued that Nepal can no longer progress under the constraints of “traditional leadership and outdated approaches.” He insisted that such styles have become barriers to national development and claimed that the youth must now take the lead in building the country.
He accused the government of presenting a policy document that fails to distinguish between policies and programs, reinforcing a legacy of weak implementation. “There is a complete lack of vision and self-reliance in what the government has proposed,” Shrestha stated.
According to him, the policy fails to reflect the mindset and aspirations of today’s youth and merely continues the status quo.
He also expressed concern that while natural disasters are routinely discussed with alarm, there remains a serious lack of preparedness and proactive planning.
Shrestha’s remarks reflect growing dissatisfaction among younger political leaders over the government’s inability to innovate or deliver transformative results amid mounting economic and social challenges.
