UML leaders hold high-level discussions on upcoming fiscal budget
According to Dr. Bhishma Adhikari, Secretary of the UML Central Office, the meeting focused on making the forthcoming budget more people-centric and solution-oriented.

KATHMANDU: Senior leaders of the CPN-UML convened a crucial meeting at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur today to deliberate on key priorities for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 budget.
According to Dr. Bhishma Adhikari, Secretary of the UML Central Office, the meeting focused on making the forthcoming budget more people-centric and solution-oriented. “All members of the party’s Secretariat, except the Chairperson and Prime Minister, were present at the meeting,” Dr. Adhikari stated. “Discussions revolved around ensuring that the budget addresses the needs of the people and emphasizes production and problem-solving.”
Dr. Adhikari further explained that the party previously held a Secretariat meeting on Baisakh 21 but could not gather sufficient input from all members due to time constraints. Today’s meeting aimed to gather those suggestions in detail.
The participating leaders proposed that the budget prioritize agriculture, industrial growth, infrastructure development, and initiatives to boost national self-reliance. They emphasized the need for strategic investments that can drive sustainable development and reduce dependency on imports.
Key figures in attendance included Senior Vice-Chair Ishwar Pokharel, Vice-Chairs Yuvraj Gyawali, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Surendra Pandey, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Astalaxmi Shakya, and Guru Baral. Also present were General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Deputy General Secretaries Pradeep Gyawali and Prithvi Subba Gurung, and other senior leaders including Bishnu Rimal, Lekhraj Bhatta, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Yogesh Bhattarai, Gokarna Bista, Raghuveer Mahaseth, and Padma Aryal.
