KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) central member Jwala Sangroula held a significant meeting with Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Dr. Sunil Sharma at his office, drawing considerable political attention.

The meeting took place while RSP President Rabi Lamichhane remains in custody over his alleged involvement in a cooperative fraud case.

Sangroula’s visit to Dr. Sharma, a vocal critic of the government’s actions against Lamichhane, has sparked discussion across political circles and social media.

Dr. Sharma has repeatedly condemned the government’s handling of Lamichhane’s case, labeling it an act of political revenge. In a social media post following the meeting, Sangroula described Dr. Sharma as “a leader with a rebellious conscience, who can call right what is right and wrong what is wrong.”

Calling the discussion “meaningful,” Sangroula expressed admiration for Dr. Sharma’s consistent advocacy for the people. She praised his integrity and courage, particularly highlighting his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 crisis. At the time, Sharma had provided free treatment to patients, earning widespread respect—Sangroula even referred to him as a “living god” during that period.

Sangroula has often spoken in favor of Dr. Sharma, calling him a devoted public servant who stands by the people in times of need.

The recent meeting between the two has led observers to speculate about deeper political alignments or shared stances on the current government’s actions.
