KATHMANDU: Prakash Jwala, a Member of Parliament from the CPN (Unified Socialist), described the government’s inefficiency as a “living example” visible at the gates of Singh Durbar, the seat of Nepal’s government.

Jwala criticized the widespread irregularities, disorder, and poor governance plaguing the nation, particularly highlighting the situation at the southern gate of Singh Durbar, where crowds of people wait in long lines to enter. He called on the government to address the issue, emphasizing that the sight of people struggling outside the gates of a government building was an unacceptable symbol of the country’s governance crisis.

He further condemned the government’s move to lock up ministries within Singh Durbar, surrounded by high walls and iron gates, likening it to a prison. Jwala warned that restricting public access to government offices in this manner was not acceptable.

He expressed frustration over citizens having to endure harsh sun and long waits for a gate pass just to get inside, demanding an end to such conditions.

“The situation where ministers enter Singh Durbar in black-windowed cars while the public sweats under the sun, waiting for gate passes, must end,” Jwala asserted, calling for a re-evaluation of the government’s approach to public access.

Additionally, Jwala raised concerns about the lack of transparency in the government’s handling of its officials’ wealth, questioning why the property details of the Prime Minister and other ministers were being kept secret.

He urged the government to immediately disclose these details, demanding a more transparent and accountable governance system.
