Lawmakers draw govt’s attention to urgent public issues in house meeting

KATHMANDU: During today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, several Members of Parliament raised pressing concerns during the Zero Hour session, urging the government to take immediate action on a range of current issues.
MP Mahesh Kumar Bartaula informed the House about a serious road accident in Raksirang, Makwanpur district, earlier this morning.
A Bolero vehicle accident left 10 people injured, six of whom are reported to be in critical condition. He called on the government to ensure immediate and effective medical treatment for the victims.
MP Madhav Sapkota expressed concern over media reports alleging that Initial Public Offering (IPO) approvals are being delayed due to commission-related corruption within the Securities Board. He requested the Speaker to issue a directive to the government for a thorough investigation into the matter.
Similarly, MP Roshan Karki demanded a detailed probe into reports that up to 5–7% commission was being sought in the IPO issuance process. She urged the government to bring transparency and accountability to the financial sector.
MP Yogendra Mandal highlighted a tragic fire incident that occurred on March 18, in which a 3.5-year-old girl lost her life. He noted that the affected family is still taking refuge in a madrasa and appealed to the government to make proper rehabilitation arrangements.
MP Thakur Prasad Gaire raised questions about irregularities in the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), stating that a new committee was allegedly formed even before the current term had ended. He demanded an inquiry into the legitimacy of the process.
The House meeting underscored several urgent issues, with MPs urging swift and transparent action from the government to address public grievances.
