Passenger bus swept away by flooded river

KATHMANDU: A passenger bus was swept away by the flooded Triyuga River in Udayapur district on Monday night.
The incident occurred between the villages of Siwai and Belaha, located in Chaudandigadhi Municipality–5.
According to police reports, the bus (registration number Ko 1 Kha 4753), operated by Barahkshetra Yatayat, was returning to Beltar from Saptari after transporting a wedding party.
While attempting to cross the river, which had swelled due to heavy rainfall, the bus was caught in the strong current and washed away.
Fortunately, only the driver and his assistant were on board at the time of the incident, and both managed to escape unharmed.
Authorities have confirmed that there were no human casualties.
The bus regularly operates on the Dharan–Beltar route. Rescue and recovery efforts are currently underway to retrieve the submerged vehicle.
Local authorities have urged travelers to exercise caution while crossing rivers during the monsoon season.
