Leftist leader Pradeep Nepal passes away
He breathed his last at around 4:15 PM on Tuesday at Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu, according to hospital sources.

KATHMANDU: Veteran leftist leader and noted author Pradeep Nepal passed away on Tuesday afternoon while undergoing treatment at Norvic International Hospital in Thapathali, Kathmandu. He was 71.
According to senior hospital sources, Nepal had been admitted to the hospital for several days and was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Monday.
Despite efforts by the medical team, he succumbed to complications arising from Parkinson’s disease, which he had been battling for a long time. In recent days, his condition had worsened due to pneumonia.
Pradeep Nepal served as the Minister of Information and Communications during the tenure of the late Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari.
Though a prominent figure in Nepali politics in the past, he had remained largely inactive in recent years.
Apart from politics, Nepal was also a celebrated literary figure, widely known in literary circles by his pen name Sanjay Thapa.
He authored over a dozen novels and short story collections.
One of his notable works includes Barbarik, a novel based on the life of former UML General Secretary Madan Bhandari.
His other acclaimed literary contributions include Ekkaisau Shatabdiki Sumnima, Baghmareko Laal Salam, Deshko Khoji, Paila Chhadera Astaeko Gham, Aama Ko Man, Sanjay Thapaka Kathaharu, Janani Janmabhumishcha, Fewako Suskera, and Deumaiko Kinarma.
