Poudel welcomes govt plan to update curriculum from schools to universities
Poudel further emphasized that hundreds of thousands of Nepali students go abroad for higher education, resulting in the outflow of billions of rupees.

KATHMANDU: National Assembly member Krishna Prasad Poudel has welcomed the inclusion of timely reforms in the national curriculum—from schools to universities—in the government’s policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83.
Speaking during the discussion on the government’s annual policy and program at Tuesday’s National Assembly meeting, Poudel described education as the foundation of all developmental infrastructure. He expressed concern that Nepal’s current education policies remain disconnected from the goals of economic growth and national prosperity.
Highlighting the irrelevance of current curricula to the job market, Poudel noted that educational institutions have effectively become “factories producing unemployed graduates.” In this context, he commended the government’s commitment to revamping the education system as a step in the right direction.
Poudel further emphasized that hundreds of thousands of Nepali students go abroad for higher education, resulting in the outflow of billions of rupees.
To address this, he urged the government to ensure that the education system offers courses that align with the interests and aspirations of Nepali youth.
He also stressed the importance of concrete commitment from the government to implement solutions to the country’s existing challenges, expressing hope that the new policy and program would address these issues meaningfully.
