Wagle slams govt policy, calls coalition deal a mockery
He expressed concern that the government’s policy document makes no mention of crucial reforms such as constitutional amendments or economic recovery measures.

KATHMANDU: Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Deputy Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has sharply criticized the government’s policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year, stating that it clearly exposes the government’s tone, character, and capacity.
Speaking during Tuesday’s session of the House of Representatives, Dr. Wagle remarked that the policy and programme lacked both ambition and direction. He also questioned the seriousness of the recent seven-point agreement between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, calling it “a mockery.”
“The agreement seems meaningless, as the government has failed to act upon its points,” Wagle said, adding that historically, Nepal’s major parties have only come together in times of economic or natural crises—but the current coalition has failed to inspire any optimism among the people.
He expressed concern that the government’s policy document makes no mention of crucial reforms such as constitutional amendments or economic recovery measures.
According to Wagle, even leaders from the ruling coalition appear dissatisfied with the proposed policy and programme.
Wagle emphasized that the national budget should be built upon the foundation of the policy and programme, with a clear focus on effective implementation.
