MPs raise key issues in Parliament, urge govt. action

KATHMANDU: In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, several lawmakers raised urgent and contemporary issues, calling on the government to take appropriate action.
Lawmaker Ranjita Shrestha urged the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the recent arrest of Resham Chaudhary, leader of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, which took place on Baisakh 17.
Similarly, lawmaker Kantika Sejuwal drew the government’s attention to the plight of 26-year-old Deeparaj Bhandari from Sumli village, Ward No. 14 of Chhayanath Municipality in Mugu district.
Bhandari, who went to Dubai for employment a year ago, has reportedly been stranded there for the past three months. Sejuwal called for his immediate rescue.
Lawmaker Thakur Prasad Gaire emphasized the need to complete the ongoing construction of the Federal Parliament Building inside Singha Durbar on time and urged the government to ensure timely progress.
Likewise, lawmaker Purna Bahadur Gharti Magar expressed concern over the failure to utilize budget allocations for district headquarters development and called on the government to address the issue.
In addition, lawmaker Manish Jha demanded increased representation of women in the Council of Ministers, stressing the importance of gender inclusion in decision-making bodies.
