KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has issued a directive to the government to respond to lawmakers’ questions, following rising tensions during Tuesday’s parliamentary session.

Lawmakers raised concerns that the government has been evading accountability by failing to answer questions posed in parliament.

After the Zero Hour concluded, members of the Nagarik Unmukti Party and the Janamat Party stood in protest, demanding that the government be held accountable.

In response, Speaker Ghimire ruled that the House cannot proceed without the presence and participation of government representatives. He emphasized that the government must fulfill its responsibility to provide answers and maintain transparency.

Despite the Speaker’s directive, members of the Nagarik Unmukti and Janamat parties continued to express dissatisfaction and staged protests inside the parliament chamber.
