Teen dies in lightning strike

KATHMANDU: A 13-year-old boy from Katari Municipality-8, Phulbari, Udayapur died after being struck by lightning on Monday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Chitra Bahadur Balampaki Magar.
According to Ward Chairperson Navin Tamang, Chitra had gone to graze goats in the nearby forest but did not return home by evening.
His father, Man Bahadur, went searching for him after the goats returned without him. Chitra was later found unconscious in the forest, believed to have been struck by lightning during a sudden storm.
“The boy had not returned home even after the goats came back. His father went looking for him and found him lying in the forest. It appears he was struck by lightning,” said Chairperson Tamang.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamal Bajgain from the Area Police Office stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
