Education officer killed by falling rock

The fatal accident took place as he was returning from an educational program held in Chaupata, Ward No. 5, organized by the Social Development Office.

KATHMANDU: Keshav Raj Ojha, a 38-year-old Education Officer from Lekam Rural Municipality in Darchula district, tragically died on Monday after being struck by a falling rock.

According to the police, the incident occurred in Odali, Ward No. 4 of Lekam Rural Municipality, when a rock fell from a cliff above and hit Ojha while he was riding his motorcycle.

The fatal accident took place as he was returning from an educational program held in Chaupata, Ward No. 5, organized by the Social Development Office.

Spokesperson of Lekam Rural Municipality, Suresh Singh Thapa, confirmed that road cutting work was underway in Odali using heavy equipment, including a JCB excavator, which may have loosened the rock.

Ojha sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to Gokuleshwar Hospital via Chaupata.

Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead by doctors during treatment.
