Man killed in dispute over firewood

KATHMANDU: A 52-year-old man was killed after being severely beaten during a dispute over firewood in Thapre, located in Solududhkund Municipality-3, Solukhumbu district.

According to the District Police Office, the victim, Ngawang Sherpa, died after being assaulted by a neighbor, identified as Pemba Tamang, approximately 46 years old, from Ward No. 1 of Likhu Pike Rural Municipality.

Police stated that the altercation turned violent during an argument over firewood, ultimately leading to Sherpa’s death.

Tamang has been taken into custody and the Solukhumbu District Court has granted a 10-day extension for further investigation into the case.

Authorities are continuing their probe to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
