Rain, thunderstorms, snow likely across Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing the combined effects of westerly winds, local wind systems, and moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Due to these active weather systems, most parts of the country are witnessing partly to generally cloudy conditions.

Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

Forecasts indicate that the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy across the country during the day.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, especially in the hilly regions of Koshi and a few other parts of the country.

Light snowfall is also likely in some areas of the Himalayan region.

During the night, partly to generally cloudy skies are expected in the hilly regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim provinces, while the weather will remain mostly clear in other areas.

Thunderstorms with lightning and light rain are also likely in some locations within these provinces.

Light snowfall may occur at one or two locations in the high mountainous areas.

The Department has advised the public to remain cautious, as the changing weather conditions could affect daily life, agriculture, health, road transportation, and air travel.
