KATHMANDU: National Assembly member Bamdev Gautam voiced strong dissatisfaction with the government’s economic policy and program for the fiscal year 2082/083, presented in the Monday session of the National Assembly.

He expressed that the policy only reflected despair and failed to address the serious issues facing the nation.

Gautam pointed out that the policy and program lacked concrete solutions for the widespread problems affecting Nepal. He criticized the government for not presenting a clear plan for solving issues that are affecting citizens across the country.

He also lamented that the policy did not make any mention of the socialist agenda, which he believes should be a guiding principle.

Although he acknowledged that the policy framework was sound, he stressed that the programs lacked depth and clarity in execution.

Another key concern raised by Gautam was the ongoing corruption at both national and international levels, which he said is damaging Nepal’s reputation. He pointed out that the policy failed to include any programs to curb this corruption.

Additionally, Gautam expressed concern over the growing protests by employees, doctors, and teachers, among others, who are demanding better working conditions. He noted that the government’s policy offered no plans to resolve these issues.

Finally, Gautam warned against any attempts to restore the monarchy, referencing the historical rejection of such institutions.

He called for the creation of laws that would prevent outdated and discredited systems from making a return, including those that could be pushed by groups like the Mallas, Lichchhavis, and the Kirants, who once ruled Nepal for over two thousand years.
