Public holiday in Madhesh Province today

KATHMANDU: Madhesh Province has declared a public holiday today on the occasion of Janaki Navami, also known as Sita Jayanti.

According to a notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Communication, and Law of Madhesh Province, all government offices and public institutions will remain closed to mark the birth anniversary of Goddess Sita, who is revered as a symbol of virtue and devotion.

Additionally, the same notice states that a public holiday will also be observed on Jestha 28 (June 11) to commemorate Kabir Jayanti, honoring the birth of the saint and poet Kabir Das.
