10 construction firms face blacklisting over project delays
The decision to consider blacklisting was based on formal recommendations from various public bodies, which reported that the companies failed to complete their assigned projects on time.

KATHMANDU: The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO), operating under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, has initiated proceedings to blacklist ten construction companies for failing to complete projects within the stipulated time.
In a notice issued on Monday, the PPMO stated that the companies have been asked to submit written clarifications within 30 days.
The move comes as a part of administrative procedures in accordance with Section 63 of the Public Procurement Act, 2064, and Sub-rule (4a) of Rule 141 of the Public Procurement Regulations, 2072.
The decision to consider blacklisting was based on formal recommendations from various public bodies, which reported that the companies failed to complete their assigned projects on time.
Before making a final decision, the PPMO is seeking explanations from the concerned firms to determine whether any valid reasons exist that could prevent blacklisting.
“If there are any grounds to avoid being blacklisted, the concerned companies must submit a written explanation along with supporting details within 30 days from the date of this notice,” the statement read.
The office emphasized that it has prioritized the evaluation and monitoring of contractors to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely execution in the government procurement process.
With repeated delays hampering public infrastructure development, the government has begun taking stricter measures against non-performing contractors.
