Man held with 4,500 tablets of Tramadol

KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday arrested a man in possession of a large quantity of banned pharmaceutical drugs from Chandrapur Municipality-10, Chetanagar, Rautahat.

The arrested individual has been identified as 29-year-old Jitendra Sah, a resident of Maulapur Municipality, who had been operating a medical store in the Chetanagar market area.

According to the Area Police Office, Chandranigahpur, Sah was openly selling prohibited drugs from his shop.

Acting on a tip-off, plainclothes police raided the medical store and seized 4,500 tablets of Tramadol, a prescription drug banned for over-the-counter sale due to its high potential for abuse.

Sah was immediately taken into custody along with the seized drugs.

Police reports suggest that he had been supplying the substances to youths in Bagmati, Chandranigahpur, and surrounding markets.

Further investigation is underway.
