KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Committee on the Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation of Directive Principles, Policies, and Responsibilities of the State conducted an inspection of the under-construction parliament building located in Singha Durbar on Sunday.

Led by Committee Chair Thakur Gaire, the team comprised several committee members who reviewed the ongoing construction works.

During the visit, Chair Gaire emphasized the need to complete the project within 200 days, stating that the work must proceed in three distinct phases to meet the deadline.

He further remarked that without regular monitoring by the concerned ministry, it would be difficult to complete the construction on time.

Chair Gaire instructed the ministry to ensure that the work is completed within the extended timeframe.

The committee also directed that if an extension is needed for the completion of the new parliament building, the responsible minister must appear before the committee and provide a valid explanation for the delay.
