Father-daughter killed in car hit
The fatal collision occurred when a car (Ba 6 Cha 3526) traveling from Hetauda towards Chandranigahapur hit the motorcycle (Na 3 Pa 9512).
KATHMANDU: A tragic road accident near the western bend of the East-West Highway in Chandrapur Municipality–4, Rautahat, claimed the lives of a father and daughter on Sunday morning.
According to the Area Police Office Chandranigahapur, the victims have been identified as 60-year-old Baliram Sahani and his 40-year-old daughter Urmila Devi Sahani, residents of Malahitole, Garuda Municipality–3.
The fatal collision occurred when a car (Ba 6 Cha 3526) traveling from Hetauda towards Chandranigahapur hit the motorcycle (Na 3 Pa 9512) driven by Baliram Sahani, who was heading towards Nijgadh with his daughter riding pillion.
The incident took place near the western bend of the highway.
Both sustained critical injuries and were rushed to separate hospitals for treatment.
Baliram Sahani succumbed to his injuries at Highway Trauma Center, while Urmila Devi passed away during treatment at LS Neuro Hospital in Bara.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Rai confirmed that the car driver, Kumar Pokharel of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–12, has been taken into custody.
The vehicle involved in the accident has also been seized.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at the hospital for post-mortem examination.
