KATHMANDU: The British College (TBC), under the British Education Group, has successfully completed its third Student Exchange Programme in collaboration with its partner university, Leeds Beckett University (LBU), UK.
The week-long programme, held in Kathmandu from April 19, brought together 16 students from both TBC and Leeds Beckett.
This year’s theme, “IoT and Arduino for Social Change,” encouraged students to tackle pressing real-world issues through innovation and technology.
As part of the cross-cultural teamwork initiative, mixed teams of students from Nepal and the UK collaborated to develop innovative prototypes aimed at solving problems such as landslides, access to clean drinking water, wildlife protection, and deforestation.
Some of the standout projects included:
- A landslide early warning system
- A smart water quality monitoring system
- A NightGuard security solution
- A deforestation monitoring application
The programme was jointly led by Dr. Pooneh Bagheri Zadeh from Leeds Beckett University and Dr. Rohit Raj Pandey from The British College, with active involvement from other faculty members.
Speaking about the programme, Dr. Zadeh remarked, “It was truly inspiring to see students from diverse cultural backgrounds come together to create meaningful technology. This programme reaffirms that education and innovation know no boundaries.”
Mr. Mahendra Raj Kandel, Director of TBC, also expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The exchange of energy and ideas between students and faculty was truly motivating. This programme has not only been a learning experience but a shared mission towards building the future.”
