KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra and controversial businessman Durga Prasai are set to be presented before the court as police seek an extension of their custody for further investigation.

The two were arrested in connection with a violent protest that took place in Tinkune on Chaitra 15 (March 28).

Authorities allege that both played a role in inciting the unrest, which turned violent and led to public disorder.

Their initial seven-day custody period, granted on Baisakh 14 (April 26), has expired.

However, police have indicated that the investigation is still ongoing and are preparing to request additional time to hold the suspects in custody.

Durga Prasai, often regarded as a leading figure behind pro-monarchy demonstrations in Nepal, is facing serious charges including attempted murder, homicide, organized crime, criminal unrest, and sedition.

Rabindra Mishra, a prominent politician and former journalist, has been charged with sedition and organized crime.

The court is expected to review the custody extension request soon, which could determine the immediate legal fate of both figures amid rising political tensions.
