KATHMANDU: One of the main entry and exit routes to the federal capital, Kathmandu, the Naubise–Naghdhunga road section, will remain closed during nighttime hours for ten days due to ongoing road construction.

According to an official notice issued by the District Administration Office, the road will be closed to all vehicular movement from 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM, starting from Baisakh 22 to Baisakh 31.

The decision aims to mitigate potential risks and expedite construction work along the Nagdhunga–Piplamod section of the Tribhuvan Highway.

Assistant Chief District Officer Mohan Prasad Nyaupane stated in the notice that the nighttime closure is necessary to ensure safety and allow uninterrupted progress of the project.

During the closure period:

  • Vehicles heading from Kathmandu to Naubise will be halted at the Nagdhunga checkpoint.

  • Vehicles traveling from Naubise to Kathmandu will be stopped at the Khatri Pauwa Bridge.

The Nagdhunga–Muglin Road Project Office has urged the public to use alternative routes during the closure.

Recommended alternative routes include:

  • For small and medium-sized vehicles: Sitapaila–Bhimdhunga–Ramkot–Dharke road.

  • Another alternative route: Samakhusi–Tokha–Gurjebhanjyang–Chhahare–Trishuli–Galchhi.

Emergency vehicles such as ambulances and security forces will be allowed to pass during the restricted hours.

Authorities have also requested all drivers to strictly follow traffic rules and avoid overtaking during the closure period to ensure safety.
